They currently have a strong hold on Saginaw and Flint Michigan and are about to put a worldwide shine on their overlooked stomping grounds. Check out the dope interview, listen to their new music and support indie rap talent right here at Rap4abuck.com.
Rap4abuck: How did you get your start in music?
MidWest Authority: We all had different ways we entered. Me(Trip) I entered music because of school…I done everything from guitar to piano to drum classes. ChinaBoy seemed to be born with a midi board. At the age of 15 he started making tracks. Zone the third and last Member of MidWest Authority started spitting around the age of 15.
Rap4abuck: How do you characterize your style of rap?
MidWest Authority: Our style of rap is a new Midwest style of crunk beats mixed with that Midwest swagga. We bring a fresh new style that people enjoy and we take you back to the days when you get lost in your music.
Rap4abuck: Were you a part of any marching band competitions?
MidWest Authority: I (Trip) made band a way of life for nine to ten years. Drums was my thing. I have to say it defines me as a producer. It gave me my ear and helps us always keep that bounce to our music.
Rap4abuck: We've all heard of Three Six Mafia but who is Thai Mafia and what makes you different from your famous counterparts?

MidWest Authority: The thing that sets us apart is we run our label like an army of family and our music has a total different swagger and sound then 3-6.
Rap4abuck: Is Thai Mafia another name for your group or is this a nickname given to you by close friends?
MidWest Authority: Well Thai Mafia first off all is our indie label. Under this label we have a few artist. The Thai part of our name comes from Suthia our ceo and Chinaboy the other producer and member of MidWest Authority. They are half Thai and there roots go back to Thailand. The Mafia part is the organized family we have. Be looking out for more than just our album. The rest of the camp is just as hot.
Rap4abuck: Your current single is "MidWest Loyalty". Can you tell fans what they can expect from this single - does it describe your background or is it more about your experiences?
MidWest Authority: We want to rep for the whole mid and all the people who love hip hop. With this track we bring you into our world and the hook allows everyone to rep where they are from
Rap4abuck: Is this also the reason why you chose a name like MidWest Authority for your album?
MidWest Authority: Our group is called MidWest Authority. We choose that name years ago because we want to be those figures from the mid who are known, cashed out and respected world wide. The name of our album is called MidWest Loyalty…which happens to also be the name of our first single.
Rap4abuck: You said The Thai Mafia album, "till death do us part", Vol. 1 is completed - what is this album about? How many volumes do you plan to record?
MidWest Authority: The Thai Mafia album is a compilation of all the members of the family. This and all albums are produced by Me(Trip) and ChinaBoy. It allows you to enjoy the whole camp on one album. We will never stop making these albums.
Rap4abuck: Who do you think are your biggest fans and where are they from?
MidWest Authority: Right now we getting a lot of love from Saginaw and Flint Michigan. That’s where the family is from. We are also getting love from Virginia and Texas.
Rap4abuck: How do you plan to reach your fans and keep it real for them?
MidWest Authority: We do shows all the time. Just check us out on myspace for dates and times. Our url is midwestauthority1
Rap4abuck: When can fans expect you to release the MidWest Authority album?
MidWest Authority: We are currently making the steps needed to have a release party and a legit release of the album. There are a few things on deck for Thai Mafia. We want to be smart with our release. But for now Rap4abuck.com/MidWestAuthority.htm is the only way you can get it!
